Last year’s leaves are on the ground

Crunching beneath our feet as we walk

You have to be aware of the wind

The fire danger is high today

Hot dogs are roasting on the grill

Wish we had the stuff for s'mores

Some stories were written long ago

Such as The Racing Butterfly of the Sea

Ideas were put together through March

Birds are pecking, looking for food

Thirty feet from the creek's edge

The sun is shining and the weather is great!

The Lord has blessed this spring day!

Everyone is out enjoying the weather

Barren trees are waving in the wind

Soon the trees will begin to bud

These are the Tales of the Nature Squirrel

A new story to add everyday

Another book will be written soon

The Lost Book was recovered in the fourth month

  Section One

The Lost Book floated down stream

  Protected by a sturdy backpack

The water was higher than normal

Large rocks threw the book off course

For twelve miles the book traveled

In was in ninth month when the leaves fell

  The meteorologist predicted severe weather

A mighty wind storm occurred one night

Strong winds were coming in from the East

A large oak tree fell over top the backpack

Over a period of time hikers appeared

No one was aware of the book that laid there

A month later state officers used a chain saw

A front end loader unknowingly picked up the pack

The final resting place was in the county land fill

And deeper into the earth the Lost Book went

Buried next to an empty soda bottle and toy car

Rain for the next three days settled the ground

Nearly two pounds of rubbish covered it all

It laid there unseen, untouched and forgotten

Chorus : It is a long way home

  Across the blacktop

  In the pouring down rain

  And you are all alone

  Section Two

It was a beautiful spring afternoon

Birds were singing and the trees were in bloom

Some seven months following landfill burial

Exciting events were going to take place

The church bells in town were ringing

People were starting to gather together

And a county commissioners meeting was held

Deciding what was to become of the landfill

It was a unanimous decision by six o'clock

The leader stepped up to the podium to speak

The landfill was going to be bulldozed Friday

Work would start early that morning

Spreading the landfill beyond the present stages

It would take a lot of time

Goes to show you, that you never know!

What will happen when you least expect it

The town's people have done their job

They have elected the head of the committee

  Final preparations have begun

There is great hope for that lost book after all!

Chorus : It is a long way home

  Across the blacktop

  In the pouring down rain

  And you are all alone

  Section Three

The Lost Book was eventually found one day

Still lying next to the now rusted toy car

Things like this don't happen every day

It was considered a miraculous recovery

Like a lost soul, it was found and cleaned up

Looking almost as good as new

A celebration is being held in the neighborhood

Everyone happy the book has been found

Chorus : It is a long way home

  Across the blacktop

  In the pouring down rain

And you are all alone (repeat)

  Sydney

As every year goes by, she glows brighter still

The Indians say that she is Yellow Bird

Loving the limelight when it is cast her way

  Filled with talents and emo
tions

Chorus : I am not from Sydney

That is my name she said

I come from amongst two Bushes

And I have stardom in my head

Charming and full of charisma, she is a delight

Out of a hundred, you'll be able to pick her out

Many people say that she is something else

Listed in the encyclopedia under dramatic

Being full of surprises, you won't miss an act

What a wonderful thing to be full of energy

One thing is for sure, there's not a dull moment

She is a girl you can't help but like

Chorus : I am not from Sydney

That is my name she said

I come from amongst two Bushes

And I have stardom in my head

  Dreams

After you enter the sleepy state

The dream world is your fate

Your mind goes through your mental file

Pictures and sounds longer than a mile

An empty space with no renter

  Unconsciously you do enter

Only you are the star of the show

Although the outcome you do not know

You think you would be the director

Call your dreams "sweet as nectar"

When you think you are on the set

You find yourself aboard someone's jet

Hopefully for you something will go right

Or it will be a long terrible miserable night

Some dreams can be a blessing at times

Or a script from Hades called "Terror Rhyme”
